Our Own Unknown

Austin Rockman

Press

The generosity of Rockman's work stems from his provision of a space into which one can reflect, project, interpret or — more to the point — listen simply for the intrinsic beauty of his music.

A sense of hidden detachment from reality, which often absorbs and enucleates our souls even against our will — such a feeling exudes from almost every movement.

Chain D.L.K.

Lush, cascading textures that crackle in the back of the mind. Rockman's attention to every detail in this malleable spacious ecosystem is impressive.

Lost Tribe Sound

Traditional use of the guitar be damned — Rockman uses his instrument, in various states of recognisability, as the main sound source on his new, mesmerising, meandering yet measured electroacoustic ambient LP.

The Slow Music Movement

Austin's deft and highly communicative use of the guitar, coupled with intricate space and production, leave you hanging off every sound and syllable. While it's not obvious what it's trying to say, it nonetheless does so directly to the soul.

Ambientologist

Quiet, dusty atmospheres of electroacoustic static and gentle field recordings accentuate the warm inner layers of processed guitar notes and noise. With an experimental and divergent approach in improvised guitar style, the music maneuvers into some truly deep and unknown places, blurring the lines of reality.
